Christian Rome
You will be met at Civitavecchia Port by your driver for your drive to Rome’s historical center. Upon arrival in Rome, your local guide will join you for an exciting day touring the Eternal City.
Your itinerary has you visiting the classic monuments of Rome through a walking tour. Your local guide will take you on a pleasant stroll through the historical center, the renowned and glorious Spanish Steps (Piazza di Spagna), you can admire the Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi), La Colonna di Marco Aurelio, the Palazzo di Montecitorio that was devised by Bernini, the Pantheon (visit inside), Palazzo Madama and Piazza Navona. Visit St. Peter’s Square and see the impressive Basilica. Continue with your driver to visit St Paul’s outside the Walls which was one of the main churches; built over the burial place of the Apostle of the Gentiles. St Paul’s Tomb was the first place of worship that has been attributed to the Emperor Constantine.
Proceeding out of the historical center, along the Ancient Appian Way, you will pass by the Chapel of “Domine Quo Vadis” before arriving at the ancient underground cemeteries and first hiding places for the Christians know as the Catacombs. You will visit either the Catacombs of San Callisto, Santa Domitilla or San Sebastiano, depending upon seasonal conditions and opening times. Your tour will end after your visit of the Catacombs. Return with your driver to Civitavecchia Port.
