You will be met at the Palermo port for your private shore excursion to Palermo and Monreale. The city tour of Palermo will unfold the cities past as a Phoenicain stronghold and Roman trading center. You will notice the traces of Roman, Arab and Norman monuments. You will visit the Cathedral built in 1185. It became a mosque during the Muslim rule and later re-consecrated to Christianity. The chapel holds the remains of St. Rosalia.You will then continue to the hilltop town of Monreale just a few miles outside of Palermo. Here you will visit the exquisite Norman Cathedral with its 6340 square meters of mosaic that covers its interior.
