Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples
Pick up at your ship in Palermo by private car or minivan.Departure for a journey back in time and a UNESCO World Heritage Sight and one of the most representative sights of Greek civilization in the Mediterranean area. Together with a local guide you will explore a collection of well preserved Doric Temples dating back to the fifth century B.C. and the remains of the Greek city of Akragas in the Valley of the Temples just outside of the town of Agrigento.Here you will visit the temple of Jupiter, the Temple dei Dioscur and the sacred area dedicated to Demeter and Persephone. You will also visit the oldest temple built in the Doric style, the Temple of Hercules. To the left of this magnificent temple lies the deeply grooved ruts made from the ancient chariots that once traveled on these stones.You will visit the Temple of Concord, the largest, most impressive and best preserved Doric temple in Sicily. And finally the Temple di Hera Lucinia with its partially preserved colonnade. Return to the port after the tour.
