Unforgettable trip to Italy

Hi Christina, We are back from our unforgettable trip to Italy. It was fantastic!! We both enjoyed the trip so very much and want to thank you, thank you, thank you for helping us have the trip of a lifetime. The history, art, culture, architecture, people…WOW! All of the tour guides, driver/guides, drivers and transfer assistants were more than enjoyable, extremely knowledgable and particularly helpful in every way. We would particularly like to thank the driver/escort from i Viaggio del Gusto (Andrea) for a most enjoyable three days in Tuscany. Everything was exactly as described and exceeded our expectations in almost every regard. Our only comment regarding the accommodation is that in the shoulder (April) season we might have requested a different hotel in Tuscany nearer to Montepulciano or Montalcino. The Poggio alla Sala resort was a little remote for us during the rainy season that we found ourselves in for our stay. We recognize that April can be rainy and accept that, but the resort was too far from any town to be able to take a walk in the evening and in the rain we felt a little “trapped” into the hotel. The staff and management were extremely helpful and accommodating and the resort’s amenities and restaurant were first class, but if we were to do it again in the same season we might consider a different location. In the summer, we are certain, it would be an outstanding venue. The grounds look beautiful and well maintained, but soggy in the rain. 🙁 We are almost over our jet lag and getting back to the “nuthouse” that is our work-a-day world. Now we just have to sort through about a thousand snapshots and find the one or two hundred we wish to print or make into our coffee table book for future easy reference. (Isn’t digital photography wonderful, at least I don’t have to print them all to see how they turned out.) Once again, thank you for your help with our arrangements, and thank you to Road to Italy for a most enjoyable vacation. We look forward to travelling with you in the future. All the best, Mike and Cherrol Hi Christina We would like to echo Mike and Cherrols comments, with all their superlatives and more. The trip was beyond our expectations and we especially appreciate the booking in advance of tickets/passes to some of the tours. The country is gorgeous, even in the rain; Tuscany is better than any post card could imagine; you have to see it to believe. Amalfi Coast was scary but beyond description; I must have 100 snapshots of that trip alone. It was enlightening to bypass hundreds of meters of cues and proceed directly to the entrance, particularly those into the Coliseum and St. Peter’s Cathedral (I estimate about 200-300 meters). The drivers and guides were always on time, in fact usually early. I was fortunate to bring my tape recorder because of the wealth of information given by the guides and drivers (like Andrea who has us for three days); I otherwise would forget much of it but the hundreds of photos will help jog my memory. The breakfasts were awesome at all the venues, with fresh fruit and pastries and a hot breakfast as well. The hotels lacked some amenities, like ice (for the rum and coke) machines, common in NA hotels but not in Italian hotels, but that’s part of the experience in visiting foreign countries; however, ice was forthcoming at the bars/kitchens. We have already recommended “Road to Italy” to our daughter and her family and you may hear from them in the near future. Kudos to you and your team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gerry and Liz
