This morning your driver will meet you for a fascinating full day excursion to Pompeii. After the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD Pompeii was buried for hundreds of years. Excavations were started in the 18th century and are still being carried out today. Together with a private guide you will be transported back in time in this wonderfully preserved Roman city. Your guide will take you slowly through some of the ancient streets of Pompeii, where you can see Baths, Villas and Forums built by the prosperous Romans in the year 80 B.C. Marvel at the spectacularly preserved frescoes which decorate the floors and walls of the villas. Even if your interests do not lie in history, this is an archaeological sight that cannot fail to impress you.
