The Lamborghini Museum and Factory situated in the countryside, just outside Bologna, make an interesting stop for those on luxury tours of Italy. For many decades, this renowned Italian carmaker has been churning out luxury super sports cars, including some of the most expensive cars ever made. The factory has been based in the village of Sant’Agata Bolognese since the company was born in 1963. The museum opened in 2001 to satisfy the Lamborghini fans’ curiosity.
Unlike its neighbor, the Ferrari museum in Maranello, the Lamborghini museum has no flashy marketing-driven displays and simulators. The main attractions are the legendary products and that is what visitors can admire to their hearts’ content, without any distraction. Tractors, burners, a helicopter and boat with Lamborghini’s engines, models and photos provide a complete overview of the legendary carmaker’s history. Almost every model ever made is on display: the 350 GT, the very first model built by Ferruccio Lamborghini in 1964, Murcialago, Reventon, Gallardo, Sesto Elemento, Estoque, Aventador Roadster, and Huracan.
There are the legendary Countach, the first Lamborghini to break the 300km/h mark, the gold-colored Diablo 6.0. Fans of the Raging Bull, as the brand is often called, get excited when they see the Reventòn with its unmistakable elegant silhouette because there are only 20 of them were ever made and to admire one of them is a special moment.
The first floor looks like a garage, with sleek Lamborghinis from different years lined up along the walls. The second floor of the museum is even more exciting for any car lover: there are the race cars and some concept cars displayed here. From a window here, you can peek onto the factory floor. For the curious guided tours of the assembly line can be organised in advance. If linger outside of the museum for a few minutes you might be lucky enough to see a new Lamborghini roaring past you for a test drive. With ours Luxury tours of Italy sports cars’ fan won’t miss this unique museum.
