Listen to Gregorian chanting

The ancient tradition of Gregorian chant dates back to the 5th century. Atheists and people of different religions head to the Sant’Anselmo abbey in Rome every Sunday to listen to the divine voices of the Benedictine monks.

Have a picnic on the Appian Way

The ancient Romans built the Appian Way to connect Rome with Apuglia in the South about 2,300 years ago. There are many perfect spots along the way to have a romantic picnic under a pine tree. Relax away from the hassle and bustle of the Eternal City listening to cicadas and birds and watching a flock of sheep grazing nearby.

Admire  frescoes at Villa Farnesina

It is one of lesser-crowded museums and you will certainly find a little corner just for yourselves. According to a legend Raphael was madly in love when painting the interior of the palazzo. So, no wonder his frescoes ooze passion: the voluptuous Venus, chubby cherubs with love arrows, beautiful Galatea.

Dine at the famous La Pergola

Apart from being Rome’s only Michelin three-star restaurant, it also has the most spectacular view over the city from their candlelit terrace. La Pergola has 3,500 wines and an amazing seasonal menu to choose from.

Sip a cocktail at rooftop garden bar

If you are not quite prepared to splash out on fine dining, how about a cocktail in a bar with a panoramic terrace? Sofitel Villa Borghese, Hotel Raphael and Hotel Atlante Star all have fantastic rooftop seatings. At the Grand Hotel de la Minerve apart from admiring the vista you can also listen to live piano music every evening.

Kiss at the Trevi Fountain

Yes, I know, thousands of people do it there every day. But you are on your honeymoon, so any excuse for a kiss!
