The Villa Lante is one of the most wonderful Italian garden from the Renaissance.
This garden is often associated with the Garden of Bormazzo and it is is located in Bagnaia nearby Viterbo in northern Lazio. It is a manieristic garden built in the 16th century. The construction is attributed to Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola even if no proof had been found. The garden is composed of two different buildings and several fountains, statues and monuments. This garden was ordered by the bishop of the city Gianfrancesco Gambara then another bishop Alessandro Montalto pursued the creation of the garden. The name of Villa Lante comes from one of its owner Ippolito Lante Montefeltro della Rovere, Duke of Bomarzo. But at that time the villa got its name, it was already 100 years old.
